After the GSNL National Conference, there is always a moment of reflection. What are we going to do next time and with whom? The question of whether it should all be bigger and more extravagant. Bigger is not necessary, but better always is.
This also applies to ICU IT Services. We realised some time ago that growth was not the most important driver for the company. That’s the beauty of running your own business: you and the people who work with you can decide what is important and valuable. Quality of work and private life create a balance within which the company’s goals must fall.
Woolly? I don’t think so. The beauty of a company like ICU IT Services is that it serves the market with specific knowledge, perhaps even a niche. This requires a specific type of people, with specific knowledge and characteristics. If you manage to retain those people, you create a certain culture within the company. By letting those people look at things together and think about things, you get a great “product”. Namely, specialists who are useful to the market. With people who are useful and sought-after in the market, you can build a healthy company. No, it’s not woolly. It’s more about “turning your business upside down” and seeing what comes out and what you need to do with it.
Learn to work with and listen to people, realise that they are the assets of the company. Understand that they too have wishes and goals in life. Then you will automatically end up with a great product as a company that the market can use. I also realise that this could be a possible structure and direction for a company such as ICU IT Services. It requires a lot of time and effort from everyone involved, but then you also have something.
That’s pretty cool!!!
